If you advertise roles on SEEK Volunteer and manage your volunteers in Better Impact, you know the drill. Someone applies on SEEK Volunteer, you get in touch, and then you ask them to apply again in Better Impact. Some great applicants get lost along the way. In this live demo, Andy Fryar from Better Impact and Katrina Hudson from SEEK Volunteer showed how volunteer applications can now flow straight from SEEK Volunteer into your Better Impact application form, no second invitation needed.

Recorded live on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Running time: about 34 minutes, including audience Q&A.

Key takeaways

  • Volunteers who apply on SEEK Volunteer are now sent straight to your Better Impact application form.
  • Using one Better Impact form? There's nothing extra to do when you post a role. Using several? Just add the right form link to each role.
  • Any organization that posts roles directly through SEEK Volunteer can use it, and a direct SEEK Volunteer account is free for eligible organizations.
  • Setup is free and handled by the SEEK Volunteer team.

No more applying twice

Until now, a volunteer application on SEEK Volunteer came to your organization first. You'd then reach out and invite the person to apply again in Better Impact. It's an extra job for you, and an easy place for a keen volunteer to lose interest.

This new integration removes that middle step. Andy described it as the first stage of a closer connection between the two platforms, and something both teams have been excited to deliver.

"What we're really talking about today is getting rid of that middle stage."

Andy Fryar, Better Impact

How the integration works

SEEK Volunteer calls this feature "two-step apply." The SEEK Volunteer team adds your Better Impact application form link to your account. When someone applies for one of your roles, they fill in a short form on SEEK Volunteer (step one) and are then sent straight to your Better Impact form to finish (step two).

It works whether you use one Better Impact application form or several:

  • One form: It's set as your default, so you post roles exactly as you do now.
  • Several forms: A new "second step URL" field appears at the bottom of the posting form. Paste in the link for the form that role should use. Leave it blank and applicants go to your default form.

You only need one SEEK Volunteer account, even with multiple forms, because you choose the form role by role.

What your volunteers will see

In the live demo, Katrina applied for a test role. Instead of a plain submit button, the form lets the volunteer know this completes part one of their application. One click on "submit and continue" takes them straight to your Better Impact form.

From there, new volunteers create a login. Anyone who already has a Better Impact account, even with another organization, simply signs in with their existing details and carries on.

Behind the scenes, a few helpful things also happen:

  • The volunteer gets an email confirming they finished step one and were sent to Better Impact to complete their application.
  • You still receive their step one details, and a copy stays in your SEEK Volunteer admin portal, even if they don't finish step two.
  • Duplicate applications are blocked, so each volunteer can only apply once for the same role.

Who can use it

Two-step apply is built into SEEK Volunteer, so it works for any role you post directly through SEEK Volunteer. Roles posted through VIKTOR or VIKTOR Lite still appear on SEEK Volunteer, but they don't include the redirect. If you post through VIKTOR today, you can set up a free direct SEEK Volunteer account to start using this feature.

What's coming next

This is just the beginning. In this first version, volunteers enter a few basic details again in Better Impact, such as their name and email address. The next goal is to pass that information through automatically, and Andy shared that the team is working toward that in 2027.

Katrina was clear that this first step already makes a big difference for volunteers.

"It's still a massive improvement in terms of the volunteer experience."

How to get set up

The SEEK Volunteer team needs to turn the feature on for your account. After the webinar, registrants will receive a short form asking about your organization, whether you use one or several Better Impact application forms, and how you currently post your roles. SEEK Volunteer's customer service team will then work through setups over the following month.

With one form, it's quick. SEEK Volunteer switches it on and emails you to confirm it's working. With several forms, customer service will walk you through linking the right form to each role.

Didn't register for the webinar? You can still request setup by completing the SEEK Volunteer setup form.

Your questions, answered

Does it cost anything?

No. SEEK Volunteer and all its features are free for eligible organizations, including not-for-profits, certified social enterprises, and local government.

Can I be notified when someone applies through SEEK Volunteer?

Yes. You can set up a notification in Better Impact to let you know when a new person applies through SEEK Volunteer.

Will my roles still show on GoVolunteer?

Yes. Roles posted on SEEK Volunteer are generally shared to GoVolunteer as well. Two-step apply runs on the SEEK Volunteer site, so volunteers who apply there go straight through to your Better Impact form.

Will this help more applicants finish their application?

Early signs are very promising. Organizations using similar SEEK Volunteer integrations have seen a real reduction in drop-off between the first application and the final form. SEEK Volunteer is tracking conversion closely to measure the impact as more organizations come on board.
