Dynamic Date Search

What is a Dynamic Date Search?

Instead of searching by exact date values (e.g. “Show me all volunteers who logged hours between 1 August 2017 to 30 August 2017”), you can make your date search dynamic, so it can be saved and run on a regular basis using relative time frames instead of specific dates (e.g. “Show me all volunteers who logged hours last month“).

Other examples include:

  • Email all accepted volunteers that are on the schedule next week
  • Create a list of non-archived volunteers that didn’t log hours last month
  • Create a list of volunteers whose training certification qualification will expire in the next six months

Using a Dynamic Date Search

Begin by starting a basic search, selecting the desired modules / statuses to include, followed by the group and communications filters (optional).  When you add search criteria that includes a date value:

  1. To the right of the date field, click the [Change to Dynamic Date] button. If you wish to switch back to entering a date directly, click the [Change to Date] button.
  2. Select the desired type of dynamic date search:
    • Basic:
      1. Select a dynamic date choice from the droplist
    • Advanced:
      1. Enter an increment
      2. Select an increment type from the droplist (see below)
      3. Select a dynamic date choice (“anchor” date) from the droplist (see below)
    • As you compose your search, a hint will show you the exact date that currently corresponds to the selections you have made
  3. Click the [Set] button
  4. Continue adding criteria and/or run your search

 

Dynamic Date choices:

  • The Current Day
  • The Start of the Current Week
  • The End of the Current Week
  • The Start of the Current Month
  • The End of the Current Month
  • The Start of the Current Quarter
  • The End of the Current Quarter
  • The Start of the Current Year
  • The End of the Current Year
